Eliza Street Community
The Eliza Street Community is a transitional residential rehabilitation program that provides a friendly and safe place where people can build the skills and confidence they need to live independently. The Eliza Street Community aims to provide a supportive yet challenging living and learning environment for up to fourteen young adults. People are supported to move at their own pace within a flexible time period of between 12 to 18 months.
Who is it for?
The Eliza Street Community is for adults 18 years and over who have a mental illness and may:
- want to develop skills and confidence for living independently;
- believe themselves to be vulnerable or at risk;
- have difficulty making or sustaining decisions necessary for self care,
independent living, satisfying work or use of time, - have difficulty in making or sustaining satisfying relationships.
How does the Eliza Street Community support people?
Through participation in group activities and individual support, residents are encouraged to take responsibility, develop living skills, find healthy ways of working through problems, explore personal goals and access other relevant services. The program supports people in areas such as:
- living skills training;
- mental and physical health and wellbeing, including self management of medication;
- social, recreational and vocational interests;
- making and sustaining relationships;
- developing self-awareness, self-esteem and confidence.
