Maria Watson-Trudgett – Director

Maria is a proud Aboriginal woman of the Wiradjuri people and is passionate about sharing her cultural knowledge, while positively influencing people’s attitudes and awareness of First Nations people and diverse cultures.  She is a Cultural Consultant/Advisor, Professional Artist and Speaker. 

Maria has a Bachelor of Social Science – majoring in Community Welfare and Human Services.  Maria has worked in health, community, disability and education sectors for more than 30 years.

Maria has a strong history of working nationally with non-Indigenous organisations, providing cultural governance and strategic leadership, to facilitate the adaption of culturally capable and culturally aligned establishments.  She has implemented cultural policy, protocols, proficiency strategies and significantly contributed to the implementation and overall achievement of three national Reconciliation Action Plans.

Notably, Maria has won several art awards and exhibited nationally, including Parliament House.  Her artworks are sold worldwide and express connections to her Aboriginal culture, in contemporary expressions of now.
