About the Exhibition

The Recovered Futures Art Exhibition has developed into an iconic event after humble beginnings, when members of Schizophrenic Fellowship of Queensland (later MIFQ) displayed their artwork at their social club.

For almost three decades, the art exhibition has displayed in the Brisbane Convention Centre, the Riverside Centre, Suncorp Piazza, King George Square and this year in the Toowong Room of Brisbane City Hall. The exhibition raises awareness of mental health and supports artists living with mental illness by providing an opportunity to display and sell their artwork. Over the years, a number of pieces have been sold to overseas and interstate buyers, and many pieces adorn the walls of hospitals and offices across the state.

Earlier this year RFQ was proud to accept the Lord Mayor’s Australia Day Cultural/Arts Award 2019 for the Recovered Futures Art Exhibition.

Under the banner of Recovered Futures Art Exhibition, carers and family members have enthusiastically responded to the invitation to also exhibit.

Committed to raising awareness of and educating the community about the importance of mental health, recovery and wellbeing, RFQ is grateful to every artist for sharing their story, their inspirations and their courage.
