About the program

The Way Back is designed to support people who have recently experienced a suicidal crisis or attempted suicide. The Way Back provides you with non-clinical, practical support in the community for up to three months. 

RFQ has three The Way Back sites at Redcliffe & Caboolture (Metro North), Darling Downs & West Moreton (DDWM) and Wide Bay. Referrals come from a public hospital mental health service. 

Eligibility

To be eligible for this service, you need to:

15 years or older

Have attempted suicide or be experiencing suicidal crisis

Be referred by a mental health service following public hospital presentations

Access

This service is accessed through Public Hospital Mental Health referral.

How we support you

We will work with you to develop a personalised program based on your needs. This can include:

Encouragement & Support

following discharge from hospital

Working Together

 to develop a safety plan

Connecting

 you to clinical and community-based support services

Helping

 you make, keep and attend appointments with other services

Meeting with you

in the community and staying in touch

Available in these regions
